Body Detox for Gastrointestinal Tract

Everyday, there are number of toxins and unnecessary substances enters into our body particularly through the
gastrointestinal tract or commonly known as GI tract. Under normal circumstances, gastrointestinal tract serves as an
important organ in eliminating dietary toxins, through a process known as detoxification. This is our natural body detox process.

Gastrointestinal tract is composed of lower and upper gastrointestinal tract. The mouth, esophagus, pharynx and the stomach are the organs that take up the upper gastrointestinal tract, where foods are initially processed at these places. These foods are subsequently digested at the lower gastrointestinal tract which consists of small intestines (which can be subdivided into ileum, jejunum and duodenum), large intestines (which can be subdivided into caecum, colon and the rectum) and finally the excretion of body waste through anus.

During the whole digestion of food, the absorption of most nutrients happens in the small intestine. The colon assimilates water while the bile helps in the digestion of fats. In addition, other excretory organs, including the salivary glands, liver, pancreas, gall bladder and kidneys also aid in body function and also normal body detoxification.

However, toxic waste will build up in your body when your gastrointestinal tract cannot perform its functions properly. For example, the gastrointestinal tract are adversely affected by refined foods and sugar, excess fatty and rich foods, food chemicals, overeating and failing to chew more than once or twice per mouthful of food, pesticides and environmental toxins, overuse of alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine, under medication or use of prescription drug, and also lack of fiber foods,
especially lack of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in the daily diet.

Minor disruptions in the gastrointestinal tract may cause abnormal absorption of nutrients and increased barrier permeability. One of the best ways to get rid of toxins and unnecessary substances in the body is having body detox through detox diet.

Detox diet aids in maintaining the tone and shape of your small and large intestines. It also helps in healing ulcerations and other tissue problems in your body. In addition, detox diet can maintain the PH balance and eliminate bad bacteria like candida and harmful yeasts. Besides, it also helps in constipation problems. What many people don't know is that even minor metabolism disruption like constipation if unguarded can lead to a big threat in your health. Constipation also causes stress and discomfort and limited physical activity.

There are ways in preparing body detox diet. Some people find it is beneficial to consume probiotics supplements to aid in the propagation of good bacteria in the intestine to aid in better digestion. Other way of good body detoxification is eating fiber rich foods and increasing water intakes. Apart from that, some people use medical herbs such as dandelion root to assist in the detoxification of the gastrointestinal tract. Dandelion root is a natural diuretic that increases urine production by propping up the excretion of salts and water from the kidney.

Besides from drinking mdeical herbs and water, some people may also try drinking fresh fruit juices as a good detox diet for gastrointestinal tract. Of course, the results of having detox diet is more effective if you would also cut down intakes of meat and fats and other processed foods that give negative impact on your gastrointestinal tract.

Anyway, it is very important to plan your meal when you are in a detox diet. It can be a little bit challenging because being in this diet makes you feel hungry and overdoing can cause you hyperacidity. As such, always consult an expert before taking a detox diet or perform any body detoxification.
